This post serves as a resource to those thinking of booking an extended family portrait session with Gossett Photography in Atlanta, Georgia or Rockwall, Texas.
I love love love extended family portrait sessions. If you know me, you know I LIVE for a power shoot... I am a lover of all things fast paced and busy! I love that someone in this family cared so much that they coordinated so many people and hired me to come out and capture a them all together. I get asked all the time about extended family portrait sessions... so I thought I'd take some time to answer the most commonly asked questions. Here goes!
What is included in an Extended Family Portrait Session?
How long of a session do you recommend booking?
One to Two hours depending on the size of your group and how much time you'd like me to spend with each nuclear family.
What does the process look like?
I like to get the entire group shot completed first while everyone is fresh and energetic! We will then work through a shot list - Please specify prior to the session if you have any unique groupings you'd like photographed. If you are a parent of small children, it's best you allow me to take care of trying to get your itty-bitty to smile- you stay camera ready so the second your little chooses to smile, I can capture the portrait you'll cherish!
What should we wear?
A main color scheme should be chosen and shared with the adults in your family a couple weeks in advance. Below, you'll see this family chose shades of blue, white, brown and black.
What type of location do you recommend? I would recommend somewhere large and sprawling, without too many distractions or busy roads close by. For those reasons, I recommend parks. When you book, I'll ask if your family has any parks meaningful to them. If the answer is yes, we will head to that particular one! If the answer is no, I will suggest a park I'm familiar with close to where you live.
And because I can't post without sharing images with you guys, an extended family session at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
