I met Aliya when she came out to my very FIRST Fashion Friday, in December of last year. Her candidness and spontaneity are like fresh air and her genuine smile and chatter make you feel like you must have met her before. Below are some of the outfits we captured that day and a little more about her.
Gossett Photography: Tell us a little bit about what you do as a personal stylist? What services do you offer clients?
Aliya Patrice: Being a personal stylist almost feels like being a life coach to some degree! I get to positively influence the way a woman feels about herself and her image through injecting a renewed sense of style into her life. This process brews increased confidence, personality, and new opportunities! I'm really just so blessed to be a part of each individual makeover outcome.
My services are setup a la carte style to allow my clients to create packages that are customized to their specific needs. The "Wardrobe Edit" includes a visit to my clients home to evaluate her current wardrobe. Next there's the "Personal Shopping" event in which I pre-shop for her and then she arrive to a stress-free shopping and fitting experience to gain those essential pieces that are missing from her wardrobe. Lastly, the "Wardrobe Styling" process reconvenes back at her home where we piece together new and improved outfits, and an e-Lookbook is created and delivered to make sure that getting dressed in the morning is a piece of cake!
I also offer virtual styling and event styling services. For more info visit www.aliyapatrice.com and click on the "Get Styled" tab.
GP: What are the three most important staple pieces one should have in their closet?
AP: Ohhh this is a tough one, but if I have to narrow it down so tightly I'm going with:
A pair of jeans (in a classic wash) that can be styled up or down
Tailored black blazer
Black single-sole heels (3.5" to 4" is the ideal height)
GP: Describe a closet revamp... what does this look like for both you and your client from beginning to end?
AP: A closet revamp may sound like an intimidating and daunting task to some, but it is actually a super fun experience! My clients and I always have a blast working through their wardrobe together! First we talk through each and every item in the closet and determine whether it stays or gets purged. While this is going on several other things are happening simultaneously...her closet is being reorganized to make items more accessible from a visual perspective, she is gaining an abundance of style tips and advice as we discuss each piece, and I am learning her style preferences as we work to curate her perfect wardrobe!
At the conclusion of our session I'll assist in donating my clients "purge pile" if needed, and I will follow-up with a personalized shopping list of 'must have' and 'nice to have' items that we'll use to build upon her current wardrobe.
GP: What made you decide to add a blog to this business?
AP: I added the blog to my brand dynamic because I wanted to create a way to stay connected with my clients and followers. I loved the idea of being able continuously share fashion inspiration, style tips, and every now and then my personal thoughts on life experiences that may somehow empower my female readers. Blogging has really become a creative outlet for me, and allows me to put my journalism background to good use in a way that I never would have imagined just a few years ago!
